Position Description: Provide leadership in research-based best practices. Connect curriculum and assessments throughout the District. Expand the District’s application of instructional data, curriculum standards and school improvement. Establish Response to Intervention (RTI) programming on each campus.
The Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services will work closely with all aspects of student services, directors, principals, teachers, instructional technology and instructional coaches.

Essential Functions:
- Directs efforts to develop curriculum sequenced throughout the entire school career and across content areas that will allow each student to reach desired outcomes.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of student assessment strategies that contribute meaningful information about individual students then used to improve their performance.
- Keep abreast of curricular developments to ensure that students are being taught with equipment and processes that are technologically current by staying well-informed about current research and best practices.
- Serve alongside administrators to coordinate activities of department chairs, instructional coaches federal programs, special education, 504 and others to assure that teaching methods, instructional materials and district level goals and programs are implemented with fidelity (examples: NWEA MAP, RTI, G/T, AP, whatever is current for the time)
- Coordinates the purchase of instructional resources which will assist faculty in assuring that students reach desired outcome.
- Organize mandated and elective student course offerings.
- Relate instructional needs to the preparation of related operational and categorical budgets.
- Collaborates with District stakeholders in the creation and implementation of District Comprehensive School Improvement Plans and related MSIP Standards.
- Assists with planning and implementation of effective professional development opportunities.
- Provide oversight to the various departments within student services such as gifted education, special education, federal programs, section 504 and counseling,
- Communicates, models, and promotes high standards of performance.
- Coordinate district tests following all guidelines and law by properly administering district, state-mandated and AP assessments, disseminate appropriate reports and assure that student achievement data is properly disaggregated.
- Plans, facilitates and maintains the Induction and Mentoring Program for new teachers.
- Develops and administers instructional programs insuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations/laws.
- Maintain liaison with social, professional, volunteer, and other community agencies and groups regarding the enhanced provision of student services.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
