The job of the Paraprofessional is to be a member of a team working with students with special needs and to assist and support the Special Services Teacher.

 

General Expectations

  • Complies with privacy rights and safeguards confidential and/or sensitive information pertaining to staff and students.

  • Actively participate in professional development and obtain skills and information necessary to effectively perform job duties.
  • Conduct all official business in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources.
  • Arrive to work and leave work at the time specified by supervisors and attend all required meetings pertinent to the position.
  • Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and Board policy.
  • Solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties. 
  • Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Curriculum support for students
  • Creating individualized learning materials
  • Supporting students through assigned learning tasks
  • Reading aloud to individual or small groups of students
  • Documentation and record keeping
  • Maintain structure of the classroom
  • Follow classroom activities and lessons as set by the teacher
  • Follow other directions in implementing student plans as directed by the teacher
  • Assist in identification, documentation, and assessment of ELs
  • Assist in translating documents and interpreting for students and families as directed 
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned
  • Attend trainings regarding assessment of students and EL programming 
  • Travel to other EL Instructional sites as needed

Physical Demands

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously

Move around the classroom

Read handwritten or printed material
