Term:                       FTC Adult Education Academic School Year:  Adjunct, 150 Clock-Hour Course 

Classification:          Part-Time CTE Instructor 

Location:                  Franklin Technology Center, Indiana Campus 

Qualifications:         Experienced welder, preferably with teaching experience, to instruct adult students in a

                                 short-term, accelerated welding course focusing on MIG, TIG, and Flux Cored Arc Welding                                        processes.

General Expectations:

  • Solve practical problems utilizing math functions as needed to complete job duties.
  • Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Deliver welding theory and skills training through direct teaching and demonstration, focusing on the following:
  • MIG, TIG, Flux Cored Arc welding
  • Interpretation of welding symbols in blueprints
  • Welding fabrication
  • Teach the course curriculum as outlined as determined by FTC.
  • Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and competency check-offs.
  • Responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
  • Provide an environment that encourages student participation and interpersonal skills development.
  • Emphasize workplace readiness skills.
  • Ensure confidentiality of student records.
  • Maintains positive classroom management by setting and communicating high, consistent expectations for learning and achievement.
  • Maintains academic and attendance records.
  • Assists students in obtaining related employment upon successful program completion.
  • Displays appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model.
  • Abides by Missouri statutes, and school board and administrations’ policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs.
  • Possess teaching and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to teach and control the behavior of students.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active.  Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.*

* This position is intended for Adult Education Instructors.  The individual who holds this position will generally be indoors in a normal classroom or skills lab environment with minimal exposure to temperature changes.  Relatively free from unpleasant conditions.
